Stable Bench
These solid chunky oak benches are an engaging use of traditional joinery. They are a smaller and more manageable version of a similar style of bench we make fro manor houses and public gardens. With this stripped back version you get the same chunky look and feel, from a piece of furniture that's built to last a very long time, but with a lot more ease of use and maneuverability.
The benches are constructed from 180mm x 60mm planks of green oak which are planed smooth before the joinery begins. The leg sections, slightly narrower at 120mm, are joined with traditional mortice and tenon joints which are secured together using a dried oak dowel to draw the joint together. This is the same way oak building, like stables and barns, have been built for hundreds of year giving an extremely stable joint. The top planks are then shaped and doweled in place from above, straight through the top and held in place with Iroko wedges.
Everything is joined using nothing but Oak and Iroko in different stages in the drying process, so as the green oak seasons the joinery gets tighter and the furniture gets more and more solid and stable.

All of our furniture is bespoke and handmade to order. The depth and height dimensions stated are to a design that we have found optimum for maximum comfort without using material wastefully. The lengths stated are standard lengths for benches and are there as a guide and for ease of purchase, but these can be made to any length you would like for an extra cost. As all of our furniture is made to order we can make these benches to any dimensions you would like, the only limit is the size of timber we can get. Standard delivery for this item is £45 to UK mainland addresses but a reduced local rate and a multiple item delivery are available. Or you can collect to save on the delivery costs. For any other delivery questions including international, please get in contact.
