Lightwell garden built from chunky Oak sleepers

This stunning garden was built as part of a complete outdoor re-design for a lovely house in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. One of our regular clients, a garden designer, got in contact to say he was putting together a design for a light-well and wanted some really chunky Oak sleepers incorporated into it. He came to us with a rough design and we sat down together and worked out how to go about it all.
The recessed area was there to let light into the gym of the property, so as well as being functional it had to look beautiful, relaxing and natural from the inside when looking out. Rather than just being a space that let in light it also needed to be a practical space for the family to enjoy and where they could entertain. To help achieve this, seating and benches were incorporated into the decking area and planters so the space could be relaxed in. Also by having the beautiful Walter Bailey sculpture in the walkway it gave the area a natural focal point  The chunky oak seating and planters were constructed using top quality 4” thick air dried oak and using traditional joinery methods. By using these materials and joinery methods it means this garden will be there for the family to use for year upon year to come.
As the planting had not been completed by the time we left the pictures don’t show the garden at its best, but once the planting has established we’ll be back to take some more pictures and get them uploaded.
